Nurse Peer Coaching Lends a Compassionate Ear to Nurses

Posted on May 21, 2020 by Pam Bowers, RN

Nurse on the phoneNursing positions are continuously evolving; whether it’s bedside nursing, management, clinical educator or other nursing positions. We are in a time when even more changes and stressors are upon us as nurses.

As a nurse myself, it is important to remember that there are resources available to help you get through these times. Nurse Peer Coaching provides an opportunity for you to “get it off your chest”. The sessions are telephonic, making it easy to set up around your busy schedule. It may involve one session or a few sessions. A solution can be as little as deep breathing, setting up a simple plan for the next time you find yourself in a stressful situation or a more detailed plan can be created over a few sessions together.

What I have found in my experience as a Nurse Peer Coach, is that many nurses just need an ear. Someone to listen to them. As they talk through what’s happening, they often find ways to reflect, solving their own situation by talking it through with me. Nurse Peer Coaches are good listeners and can often relate to any and all issues at hand.
