The training we did this spring on bullying and harassment in the workplace resonated with many of our customers, who asked if we could provide this training onsite to their managers and supervisors, but also wondered if there was a companion training that could be offered to their employees.
Concerns about workplace civility have been borne out by several surveys and studies. A US News & World Report survey found that 89% of respondents felt that incivility was a serious problem in today's society. Another study found that 83% of people surveyed stated that it was very important to them to work in a civil environment, and 70% said that they had contemplated changing their jobs at some point in their careers due to what they perceived as a less than civil environment.
With that in mind, we've developed a new training module to answer the need for employee-level training:
Incivility at work is on the rise. If you have ever left the copy machine jammed and walked away, answered a cell phone during a conversation, or intentionally undermined a co-worker in a meeting or in e-mails, you are guilty of workplace incivility. The effects of workplace incivility tend to linger within a workgroup and can set a tone for ongoing disrespect, and sometimes hostility, if not addressed. This session will explore the causes and consequences of workplace incivility while raising employee and supervisor awareness of negative workplace behavior and what they can do to address concerns effectively.
